We want to give a big THANK YOU to the following individuals and businesses for donating their time and services to help CHS continue improving our care of the shelter cats and dogs!

Please support the businesses that give to the
Columbia Humane Society!
- On June 5th, Daisy Girl Troop 10016 and Boy Scout Troop 294 collected and sorted 8,878 cans and bottles, netting $383.90 for the Columbia Humane Society. Thank you all so very much for helping out the dogs and cats!
- We want to thank our donation canister sponsors: IGA; Deer Island Market; B&B Market; Damma's Pastry Shop; Midway Vet Hospital; Big O Tires; Scappoose Liquor Store; Sunshine Pizza; Hight School Pharmacy, Ace Hardware Stores; Ichabods Restaurant; All About Pets: Scappoose Hi School Pharmacy; Scappoose Cigar Shop: Rose Valley Market; Pizza Vendor; Columbia Feed & Electric Store; Scappoose Columbia Feed Store; Houlton Bakery; Semlings Pharmacy; Guipettos; Hawaiian Restaurant; Past Time Tavern; Chicago Subs; Columbia Vet; St Helens Book Shop; Les Schwabs; Warren Country Inn; Warren General Store; and Road Runner Chevron. Your support is very important to us!
- For many years Georgie Holsheimer has generously allowed us to use her storage building for CHS annual garage sales. Thank you Georgie, we couldn’t do it without you!
- Roy Dean Hovey, Winner of the Recipe Showdown with Kaula Pork, Klondike Restaurant! He won both the people’s choice and the number of dinners ordered awards and donated all of his winnings, $170.00, to Columbia Humane Society. Thank you Roy Dean for being a big supporter of the adorable and fuzzy.
- Low-cost rabies clinics are held three or four times a year to provide a much needed service to our community and to support CHS. Most of these clinics are held at the shelter, but some are held at other locations such as Vernonia and Clatskanie. Orchestrated by our long-time volunteer Chris Braud, with the help of Midway Veterinary Clinic, Columbia Humane Society, Columbia County Animal Control, and a great group of volunteers, this event assists from 50 to 100 people and their companion animals each time. The clinics bring in a significant amount for CHS, also, which helps us care for the animals at the shelter. It is a win-win deal for both people and pets! Thank you all for your hard work; we truly appreciate it!
- Seniors Natasha Brittian, Tia Golson and Paige Burbank raised awareness and money for the Columbia Humane
Society with their Senior Projects from St. Helens High School.
Natasha sold the popular rubber wristbands at St. Helens High School, Warren Country Store and when she was out and about. The wristbands sell for $2 each and are black and yellow with the imprinting of "Columbia Humane Society" on one side and "Friends Finding Friends" on the other. Natasha raised $174 for CHS for her week long event. We are selling them at the front window of CHS if you were not able to purchase one.
This past Saturday May 15th, out in the parking lot of CHS, Tia and Paige held their Senior Projects.
Tia's was a Cat and Dog Food Drive. For every 8 pounds of food donated you received a raffle ticket with a chance to win a two day stay at Camp Wilkerson not too far from Scappoose. Tia raised $60 in raffle tickets and 245.9 pounds of food. Thank you Columbia County!! Jacob Cargile, age 8, was the winning ticket drawn before 10 people.
Paige decided to have a Dog Walk on the Pavement that started at the CHS shelter and giving the walkers two choices of turn around areas. Those who brought their own dogs and those who walked CHS dogs donated $5 for the walk. On returning the dogs were given treat bags and walkers were able to purchase for $1 a bottle of water and a snack. Paige raised $76 between walkers, donations and sales. Our dogs of CHS had a wonderful day with all the walks down the trail.
Anytime you want to walk a dog, we can hook you up. Just fill out a form and we will match you to the perfect dog.
Thank you Natasha, Tia and Paige for giving of your time and all the friends and family you recruited to help you make these events run so smoothly. Thank you Columbia County for helping make these projects turn out successful for not only the seniors, but the dogs and cats of CHS. - We can’t thank Clare Connor and Adrienne Hardin from Just Dogs enough for their long-term support! Clare and Adrienne have been helping to raise money for our shelter animals with the Bow Wow Hour, Dogtoberfest and with sharing a booth at the Sauerkraut Festival; just to list few things these two have done to help to keep the shelter’s doors open. To Clare and Adrienne we give 4Paws up for their support. You are awesome and so important to us! Thank you!
- As you're traveling around town look for our new CHS event signs. If you see one out on
display, that means we've got an event going on, so turn on that blinker and follow the sign!
Most of our events are open to the public and are fundraising, awareness, or cost-saving events
for the animals of our community.
The sign was created by Clare Conner, a local graphic designer and new CHS volunteer.
It was produced by Rob Smith with RS Media of Scappoose. Rob has done countless acts of kindness for CHS over the years. Thank you, Clare and Rob, for your continued support!
DO YOU HAVE A FUNDRAISING IDEA YOU WOULD LIKE TO DEVELOP ON BEHALF OF CHS? WE'D BE HAPPY TO HELP AND BE PART OF THE FUN!
