Oregon Legislature Bill Status: Signed by Governor
Protects Sharks from Cruel Finning and Extinction
Bill Number: OR H.B. 2838 Read Text

Tens of millions of sharks are killed every year to supply the cruel and wasteful trade in shark fins and fin products. Many of these sharks’ fins are obtained by cutting the fins off the shark and throwing the animal, often still alive, back into the ocean to die a slow death. Legislation is being considered in Oregon (H.B. 2838) to stop this practice.
